What is the Telangana Dalit Bandhu Scheme?

Dalit Bandhu is a groundbreaking initiative by the Government of Telangana aimed at addressing the economic and social challenges faced by scheduled caste families. This scheme was launched on August 16, 2021. 

Under this scheme, eligible SC families will receive a one-time grant of Rs. 10 lakhs each to kickstart their own small businesses or entrepreneurial ventures. It is expected to benefit more than 20 lakh families in the state over the coming years. The capital assistance of Rs. 10 lakhs per SC family is provided as a 100% grant, allowing them to establish income-generating projects of their choice without the need for bank loans.

Telangana Dalit Bandhu Scheme Objective 

The primary objective of this scheme is to combat poverty and encourage entrepreneurship within the historically marginalized and discriminated against Scheduled Caste (SC) community. Additionally, it seeks to foster inclusive economic and social progress in the state.

To kick start the program, the Telangana government allocated Rs.1,000 crores in 2021. The implementation will occur gradually, with eligible families chosen based on specific criteria such as income, education, and entrepreneurial abilities.

Telangana Dalit Bandhu Scheme Eligibility Criteria

It is essential to check the eligibility criteria, before applying for the scheme. Given below are the eligibility criteria for the Dalit Bandhu scheme. 

1. SC Community: The scheme is exclusively for families belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community.
2. Telangana Residency: Applicants must be residents of Telangana.
3.  Income Limit: Eligible families should have an annual income below Rs. 2.5 lakh.
4.  Land and Housing Ownership: Families should not own more than 3 acres of agricultural land or more than one residential house.
5.  No Previous Government Aid: Applicants should not have previously availed of any other government loan or subsidy.
6. Viable Business Plan: The applicant must possess a feasible business plan or entrepreneurial idea that can be supported by the grant.
7. 10% Contribution: Applicants are required to contribute 10% of the project cost.
8. Bank Account: The applicant should have an active bank account.
9. Digital Identity: An official digital identity, such as an Aadhaar card, is necessary.
10. Age Range: Applicants should be between 25 and 50 years of age.
11. Educational Qualification: A minimum educational qualification of passing at least the 10th standard is required.
12. Clean Record: Applicants should not have a criminal record or any prior convictions.

Telangana Dalit Bandhu Scheme Conditions to Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for the scheme, families must be Dalit and meet certain criteria, such as land holdings, annual income, savings, liabilities, education, skills, and employment status.

It is worth noting that the Telangana Dalit Bandhu Corporation which is an implementing agency of the scheme will conduct the eligibility survey and provide capacity-building and training programs, as well as support for marketing and access to credit. The scheme is not based on caste certificates but on the socio-economic conditions of the families. 

Telangana Dalit Bandhu Scheme Exclusions / Ineligible

• Income: Families with an annual income of more than Rs. 2.5 lakh are not eligible for the scheme.
• Caste: The scheme is exclusively for Dalit families.
• Existing government benefits: Families who have already received any other government loan or subsidy are not eligible.
• Criminal record: Families with a criminal record are not eligible.
• Land ownership: Families who own more than three acres of agricultural land or more than one residential house are not eligible.
• Education: Families with members who have completed a professional degree, such as engineering or medicine, are not eligible.

Telangana Dalit Bandhu Scheme Application Process (Offline)

At the moment, only offline processes are available for the Telangana Dalit Bandhu Scheme. If any online process commences in the future, we will notify you. Till then here is the step-by-step process of the Telangana Dalit Bandhu Scheme 

1. Visit the official website of the Telangana State Scheduled Castes Development Corporation (TSSCDC) and download the application form. 

1. Fill out the application form and submit it along with the required documents to the TSSCDC office in your district.
2. The required documents include:
   • Proof of identity
   • Proof of residence
   • Proof of age
   • Proof of income
   • Proof of educational qualifications
   • A viable business plan or entrepreneurial idea
   • Bank account number
3. The TSSCDC will conduct a feasibility study of your proposed business or venture.
4. If the feasibility study is positive, the TSSCDC will approve the grant and disburse the funds directly to your bank account.
5. You will be required to contribute 10% of the project cost, and the grant will cover the remaining 90%.
6. You will also be required to undergo training in financial management, entrepreneurship, and other relevant skills.
7. You will be required to submit regular progress reports to the TSSCDC, and the performance of your business or venture will be monitored.

Additional steps

• Eligible Dalit families will be identified through a comprehensive survey of their socio-economic conditions.
• The Telangana Dalit Bandhu Corporation will notify the eligible families and provide them with information on the application process.
• The eligible families will be required to submit an application, which will include details of their proposed business or venture, as well as any other relevant information.
• The applications will be reviewed and processed by the Corporation, which will provide financial assistance in a phased manner to the approved beneficiaries.
• The beneficiaries will also receive capacity-building and training programs, as well as support for marketing and access to credit.
