What is Kanya Sumangla Yojana 2024?

Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangla Yojana 2024, is a welfare scheme for the girl child of Uttar Pradesh. It was launched in 2019 to provide financial assistance to the eligible girl child and to eradicate female feticide. Under this scheme, an amount of Rs 25,000 will be provided upon the birth of a girl child from FY 2024-25, currently, it is Rs 15,000. This amount will be disbursed in six installments. • In the third category, girls admitted to the first class in the current academic session are considered.
• The fourth category comprises girls who, during the ongoing academic session, have completed the sixth class and enrolled in the next grade.
• Under the fifth category, girls admitted to the ninth class in the current academic session are included.
• The sixth category encompasses all girls who have completed the 12th class and enrolled in a graduation degree or at least a two-year diploma in the current academic session. Kanya Sumangla Yojana Finanacial Assistance 2024

August 30, 2023 Update: On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath presented a significant gift to the daughters of the state by announcing a substantial enhancement in the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangla Yojana.

During an address and interaction with beneficiaries of the ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala’ scheme at Lok Bhavan, the Chief Minister revealed that the government intends to raise the amount allocated under the Kanya Sumangala scheme from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 starting from the financial year 2024-2025.

He emphasized that this adjustment aims to facilitate the fulfillment of the dreams of the state’s daughters, enabling them to achieve self-reliance while pursuing education.

Kanya Sumangla Yojana Eligibility Criteraia

The eligibility criteria for the Kanya Sumangala Yojana are as follows:

• The beneficiary’s family must be residents of Uttar Pradesh and possess a valid permanent residence certificate, which can be in the form of a ration card, Aadhar card, voter identity card, or utility bills like electricity or telephone bills.
• The annual income of the beneficiary’s family should not exceed Rs. 3.00 lakh.
• The scheme allows a maximum of two girls from a single family to avail of its benefits.
• The beneficiary’s family size should not exceed two children.
• In cases where a woman gives birth to twins in her second delivery, the girl child is considered the third child, making her eligible for the benefits.
• Benefits are applicable if a woman has a girl child in the first delivery and two children in the second delivery.
• In the case of twin girls, all three girls are eligible for benefits.
• If a family has legally adopted an orphan girl, the benefits are extended to the biological children of the family, with a maximum of two girls, including legally adopted children, being eligible beneficiaries under this scheme. Kanya Sumangla Yojana Application Process

Application for benefits under the Kanya Sumangala Yojana can be submitted by the girl herself (if an adult), the girl’s parents, or the guardian. To ensure the validity of applications, they must be filled in the prescribed format, self-attested, and include all necessary enclosures as per the provided details.

For Online Applications

• The preferred mode for submitting applications is online.
• Online applications can be completed on the departmental portal using various means such as Common Service Centers, Cyber Cafes, smartphones, or computers.

For Offline Applications

• Applicants who are unable to apply online have the option to submit offline applications.

• Offline applications can be filed at the office of the Block Development Officer, SDM, District Probation Officer, or Deputy Chief Probation Officer.
• The designated officer will forward all offline applications to the District Probation Officer for online processing.
• The District Probation Officer will upload all received offline applications online through the district login, and the final decisions on offline applications will also be processed online.
• Applications sent by post will not be accepted under any circumstances.

• After successful verification, the registration will be completed, and a User ID will be sent to the mobile phone.

Kanya Sumangla Yojana Payment Processing

Timely Payments

• Payments will be made within 3 months from the date of receipt by Headquarters, and actions will be taken accordingly.

• Payments are scheduled for June, September, December, and February.

• The amount payable to the beneficiary will be transferred to their bank account online through PFMS (Public Financial Management System).

Kanya Sumangala Yojana General Guidelines

The Kanya Sumangala Yojana encompasses a total of 6 categories, each offering specific benefits. Applicants can submit separate applications for each category, and if eligible, they can directly apply for the relevant category. Benefits will be granted if eligibility is established in all subsequent categories after the one initially applied for. For instance, if an applicant hasn’t applied for benefits in the first two categories, they can still apply directly for benefits related to admission in Class 1 under Category 3.

Transfer of Payable Amount under the Scheme to Bank Account

• For minor girl children, the payable amount will be transferred through PFMS (online) as follows:
• The amount will be transferred to the mother’s account.
• If the mother is deceased, the payable amount will be transferred to the father’s account (death certificate to be attached/uploaded).
• In the unfortunate event of both parents’ death, the amount will be transferred to the guardian’s account (death certificate to be attached/uploaded).
• If the girl becomes an adult, the payable amount under the scheme can be transferred to her bank account through PFMS (Online).
• It is a prerequisite for the beneficiary to have a bank account in a nationalized bank.

General Requirements for Kanya Sumangala Yojana Applications

• Submission of the latest joint photograph of parents/guardians with the girl child on the application form is mandatory.
• Photocopies of the Aadhar cards of parents and the Aadhar card of the girl child (if available) must be attached/uploaded with the application form.
