What is Karnataka Swawalambi Sarathi Yojana?

The Karnataka Swawalambi Sarathi Yojana is a government initiative aimed at supporting unemployed youth, minorities, and the SC/ST community. This program offers subsidies of up to 50% to empower unemployed youth either to purchase a vehicle or to initiate a new business. The maximum subsidy available is up to 3 lakh rupees. Through this scheme, unemployed youth in the state can not only achieve financial independence but also contribute to reducing unemployment by creating job opportunities. • The prime objective of the Swawlambi Sarathi Yojana is to make the minority youth and SC/ST of the state independent and to decrease the unemployment rate.
• To offer financial assistance from the Corporations to unemployed individuals from Backward Classes Category-1, 2A, 3A, and 3B for the acquisition of light four-wheeler vehicles.

Karnataka Swawlambi Sarathi Yojana Eligibility Criteria 

Before applying for the Swawlambi Sarathi Yojana, it is advised to check the complete eligibility criteria. This is to be done to avoid any kind of inconvenience at the time of filling out the application form. Let’s look at the Swawlambi Sarathi Yojana Eligibility Criteria in detail.

• You must be a permanent resident of Karnataka. This scheme is only for the bonafide Karnataka Youth. 
• You must be unemployed i.e. you must not generate any income through any source.
• You must be of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, and other minority communities in order to receive benefits from this program.
• Individuals eligible for this program must fall within the Backward Classes Category-1, 2A, 3A, and 3B communities. 
• For Minorities, they need to produce their minority status certificate.
• To qualify for financial assistance under this initiative, candidates are required to possess a Light Vehicle Driving License.
• Applicants’ annual family income should not exceed Rs. 98,000 for rural areas and Rs. 1,20,000 for urban areas. 
• For Minritoes, the annual family income from every source is Rs 6,00,000 per annum.
• Additionally, candidates must be aged between 21 and 45 years, and have not previously benefited from similar programs in Corporation schemes or Government Departments. For Minorities, this age limit is 18-55 years.
• To avail of the scheme’s benefits, candidates must have an Aadhaar-linked bank account with a nationalized bank branch in their residential jurisdiction.
• Only one member per family is eligible for the program, with priority given to women. Martians are also given preference in this initiative.
• Beneficiaries utilizing this program must register their vehicle for self-taxi driving purposes (Yellow Board).

Karnataka Swawlambi Sarathi Yojana Reservation 

For Backword Category: In the framework of this initiative, the Devaraja Government Backward Classes Development Corporation has allocated 85% of the reservation for Categories 1 and 2A, while 15% is designated for Categories 3A and 3B. For other corporations, representation should include all communities under the respective corporation.

• Category 1 and 2A are classified as the most backward category.
• Category 3A includes Vokkaligas, Kodavas, and Balija.
• Category 3B includes Veerashaiva-Lingayat sub-castes, Maratha, Christians, Bunts, Jains (Digambara), and Satani.

Karnataka Swawlambi Sarathi Yojana Documents Required

When submitting an online application via the Sewasindhu portal, applicants are required to furnish the following essential documents. It is advised to check the documents that are required for the scheme. Given below are the documents that are required for the Sarathi Swawalambi Yojana.

Backward Classes and Caste/Family Annual Income Certificate:

• Purpose: This certificate is required to verify the applicant’s eligibility as belonging to the Backward Classes and to determine the annual income of their family.
• Issuing Authority: The certificate should be obtained from the concerned Taluk Tahsildar or Revenue Officer in the prescribed format.
• Validity: The certificate is usually valid for a specific period and needs to be periodically renewed.

Proof of Residence (Aadhaar Card/Electoral Identity Card/Ration Card):

• Purpose: This document serves as evidence of the applicant’s residence.

Swawlambi Sarathi Yojana Karnataka Online Application

In order to apply Swawalambi Sarathi Scheme online through the Corporations, Swawlambi Sarathi Yojana Karnataka online applications will be requested from applicants via the Seva Sindhu portal, accompanied by a public announcement.

Beneficiary applications will then be endorsed to nationalized banks for loan approval, along with a comprehensive list of vehicle purchase prices.

The respective bank branch will assess these applications for loan approval and submit the requested proposals for subsidy release from the corporations to the District Manager.

This submission will include the sanction letter or claim letter, and the entire process will be conducted online. There is no Swawlambi Sarathi Yojana last date as this will be open at public notice. You can register yourself on the Seva Sindhu portal and then it will be notified to you after that. 

In order to apply for the scheme as a minority, one has to visit the official website of Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation Limited.

After that click on “Apply Online”. Where you will be asked to enter your mobile number and an OTP will be send to you to proceed further.

After entering the OTP, you will be asked to enter your Aadhar Card Number and after entering that you would be able to fill in the Karnataka Swawalambi Sarathi Yojana online application form

Karnataka Swavalambi Sarathi Yojana  Loan Disbursement and Vehicle Inspection Process

Document Upload and Verification:

• The District Manager will upload the received documents on Visvas software and forward them to the Managing Director (L-1, L-2, L-3).
• The head office verifies the proposal with the documents and provides copies of RC Book, Tax Payment Receipt, Insurance Payment Receipt, etc.

Subsidy Release and Aadhaar-linked Bank Transfer:

• After verification, the subsidy is released through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) to the applicant’s Aadhaar-linked bank account.
• The beneficiary must register the vehicle with the Yellow Board at the Regional Transport Office.

Registration and Delivery:

• The vehicle supplier registers the vehicle for self-reliant Chariot/Taxi use.
• The registered vehicle is then delivered.

Beneficiary Responsibilities:

• The beneficiary bears registration and insurance costs as per bank instructions.
• The beneficiary must renew the insurance annually.

Documentation and Record-keeping:

• Copies of RC, tax payment receipts, insurance payment receipts, etc., are collected and stored by the District Manager.

Vehicle Sale Restrictions:

• Selling the vehicle purchased under this scheme is not permitted until the loan is settled or the vehicle changes from a yellowboard to a whiteboard for taxi use.

Bookkeeping for Loans and Grants:

To document and manage comprehensive information regarding the subsidies disbursed to beneficiaries, the Corporation will maintain detailed records in accordance with the specifications outlined in the sanction order.

Loan Repayment

Beneficiaries are required to repay both the principal and interest of the loans obtained from banks in accordance with the installment schedule set by the respective bank branch.

Karnataka Swawalambi Sarathi Yojana Subsidy Amount 

Under the Sarathi Swawalambi Yojana, the Government of Karnataka is providing subsidies to support the unemployed youth to buy a vehicle or start a small business. The Corporation will grant a subsidy of 50% on loans approved by Nationalized Banks/Rural Banks or a maximum of Rs.3.00 lakhs, whichever is lower, for the procurement of four-wheelers under the Swavalambi Sarathi Yojana. In the case of bank-shared loans, the borrower must repay the loan amount in predetermined installments, including interest at the prevailing rate set by the bank.
