20th Nov Update: Restriction of 2 girls in a family lifted
On November 20, 2023, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren made a significant announcement on the occasion of World’s Children’s Day. He stated that under the Savitribai Phule Kishori Samridhi Yojana, the restriction on the eligibility for a maximum of two girls per family to receive benefits has been lifted. Now, all girls in the family will be eligible for the benefits of this scheme. This change aims to provide economic assistance to all girls in financially weaker families.

To qualify for the benefits of the Savitribai Phule Kishori Samridhi Yojana, it is no longer obligatory to provide a birth certificate. Girls applying for the advantages of the Savitribai Phule Kishori Samridhi Yojana will no longer be obligated to submit birth certificates. Previously, it was a requirement for orphaned girls under this scheme to include a copy of their birth certificate with their application form, in accordance with the Child Welfare Committee’s regulations. However, the government has now decided to eliminate this condition, aiming to ensure broader accessibility of this scheme to more girls.
Additionally, another decision has been taken that individuals who get married before attaining the legally defined age will not qualify for the benefits of this scheme. Only the relevant documents of the guardian or caregiver will be considered valid in the event of the parent’s demise after the girl has reached adolescence.
