The Prime Minister’s Drone Scheme is poised to significantly enhance the application of fertilizers and pesticides in agricultural fields. As a key incentive, beneficiaries, particularly women, will receive a complimentary 15-day training program in drone operation. This initiative aims to empower women by equipping them with the skills needed to effectively utilize drones for agricultural purposes. Additionally, participants will receive a fixed monthly stipend as part of the scheme.

Furthermore, to encourage the ownership of drones, women enrolled in the program will be eligible for financial support. The scheme offers to cover 80% of the drone’s cost or a maximum of ₹8,00,000, should the woman decide to purchase one. The primary goal of the initiative is to supply drones to women belonging to self-help groups, as the government has observed certain areas in agricultural fields where various types of pesticides are not evenly distributed, resulting in crop damage and losses. The implementation of drones addresses this issue by enabling the aerial spraying of pesticides across fields. This method ensures comprehensive coverage, reaching even remote sections of the crops. Consequently, applying insecticides from above helps protect crops from potential harm, preventing damage caused by insects.

PM Drone Didi Yojana 2023 Salary and Training Details

Under the Drone Didi Yojana, female drone pilots will be equipped with drones by forming clusters comprising 10 to 15 villages. Within each cluster, one woman will be chosen as the Drone Sakhi. The selected Drone Sakhi will undergo a comprehensive 15-day training program. Additionally, female drone pilots will receive a monthly salary of Rs 15,000. The 15-day training for the Mahila Drone Sakhi will be divided into two parts. Members of women’s self-help groups will undergo a mandatory five-day drone pilot training, followed by an additional 10-day training focused on nutrients and pesticides for agricultural purposes.

• The government, under the scheme, will provide a 15-day training to women at no cost, ensuring ineffective training.
• Pilot women of the Atithi Self-Help Group are entitled to a monthly government stipend of ₹15,000 for training, facilitated through direct benefit transfer to their bank accounts.
• Women participating in the self-help group or women’s scheme can avail of an 80% concession or a maximum subsidy of Rs. 8 lakh on drone purchases, with the remaining amount accessible as a loan under the Agriculture Infra Vita Nutrition Facility at a 3% interest rate.
• Over 10 crore women associated with various self-help groups in the country, including 15,000 women’s self-help groups, are beneficiaries of this initiative.
• Coastal tourist women from 10 to 15 villages adversely affected will have the opportunity to be selected as Suryoday Sakhi, receiving specialized training.
