What is Nandagaura Yojana 2023?
Nandagaura Yojana is a state government welfare scheme that provides financial support to female children from the time of their birth until they pass the 12th standard. The primary objective of this initiative is to fight against female feticide, prevent child marriages, address prevailing gender inequalities, and empower girls by facilitating their access to quality education. Only those who have permanent residency within the Uttarakhand state are eligible.
To avail the benefit of the scheme, a shared bank account will be established, in a nationalized bank, involving the girl child and her mother, requiring no initial balance and exempt from clearance procedures. In the unfortunate event of the mother’s absence, a joint account will be set up with the father. If both parents are not available, a joint bank account will be established with the girl child’s legal guardian. Importantly, this account must be linked to the Aadhaar number of the intended beneficiaries. Let’s look at the details of the scheme.
