During the budget announcement for the financial year 2023-2024, the Odisha state government became the first to recognize the State Forest Rights Scheme. The Mo Jangal Jami Yojana was allocated a budget of Rs 38.76 crore by the state government, and the state legislature approved this funding independently, without involvement from the national government. The state comprises around 53,845 communities, with 32,562 of them being part of the central Forest Rights Act (FRA) network.
