What is the Goa MAMTA Scheme 2024?

The “Financial Incentives to Mothers who Deliver a Girl Child”  or Goa Mamta Scheme is a financial assistance initiative administered by the Directorate of Women and Child Development, Government of Goa. The Mamta Scheme aims to enhance the Female Child Sex Ratio within the state. It was launched on April 01, 2011.  It is accessible to all mothers delivering a live girl child (up to a maximum of two deliveries) in a registered medical institution. An amended version of the scheme came into effect on April 1, 2015.  Under the scheme, mothers are entitled to receive a sum of Rs. 10,000 for each delivery of a girl child in a registered medical institution.

The implementation of the scheme will be carried out through the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), involving the Child Development Project Officer, Mukhya Sevikas, and Anganwadi Workers at the Taluka/Block Level and Village Level, respectively. Goa MAMTA Scheme 2024 Benefits

  • Mothers eligible under the scheme will receive a one-time financial incentive of Rs. 10,000 through an Electronic Clearing System (ECS), National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT), Aadhaar Payment Bridge System (APBS), or Automated Clearing House (ACH) upon the birth of a live girl child. Applications should be submitted within 45 days of delivery.
  • Beneficiaries who have received the 1st Installment of Rs. 5000 under the existing scheme are entitled to the balance amount (2nd installment) of Rs. 5000. Applications must be submitted within 45 days from the date of the Amended Scheme publication in the official Gazette.
  • Those beneficiaries who applied for the 1st Installment of Rs. 5000 before the date of the Amended Scheme’s publication are eligible for Rs. 10,000 under the amended scheme.
  • Beneficiaries who have received both the 1st and 2nd Installments are not eligible for any further incentives or benefits under the amended scheme, and their case will be considered closed.

Goa MAMTA Scheme 2024 Eligibility Criteria 

  • The scheme is open to all mothers delivering a live girl child, with a maximum of two deliveries, in a registered medical institution.
  • Regardless of social or economic status, the scheme is available to all eligible mothers.
  • The mother must have been a resident of Goa for a minimum of three years or be married to a Goa resident (supporting documentation is required).
  • Eligible mothers who give birth to a girl child must apply to the Child Development Project Officer through the local Anganwadi Centre. 
  • The application should include a copy of the Birth Report/Birth Certificate in the prescribed form and must be submitted within 45 days of the girl child’s delivery. The benefits will be directly credited to the designated bank account.
