India’s social structure is intricate and delicate, particularly for women and girls. Discrimination based on social, religious, educational, and family factors has persisted for a long time. Issues like female foeticide, imbalanced sex ratios, child marriage, and negative attitudes toward girls strip them of essential rights like life, protection, health, and education. Both the government and non-government organizations are actively working to eliminate these problems. In response, the Uttar Pradesh government launched the Kanya Sumangla Yojana in 2019, aiming to provide social security and development opportunities for girls and women. This initiative not only strengthens efforts against problems like female foeticide and child marriage but also opens doors for girls to pursue higher education and employment.
The current Uttar Pradesh government is committed to women’s empowerment, focusing on health and education as the foundation. The Kanya Sumangala Yojana, initiated by the state government, aims to enhance the health and education levels of girls, ensuring a brighter future. Implementing this scheme aligns with the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign and reinforces women’s empowerment in the state.
