What is the Odisha Ama Hospital Scheme?

The Odisha Government has initiated the “Ama Hospital Shceme” to enhance healthcare services for the state’s residents. This program aims to ensure the well-being of patients in the state and encourages them to avail the benefits of the scheme. As part of this initiative, a list of hospitals has been made available to facilitate citizens in accessing health services. This list enables citizens to easily locate hospitals where they can receive the required medical treatment.

Within the framework of the scheme, public health facilities at all levels will feature upgraded patient waiting areas equipped with essential amenities, hygienic toilet facilities to enhance the patient experience, and attendant rest sheds for those staying at the facility during a patient’s hospitalization. Additionally, digital display boards will be installed for heightened public awareness, along with queue management and patient calling systems to alleviate overcrowding in service areas. To cater to refreshment needs, Mission Shakti Cafe will be established within the hospital premises, providing convenient access for patients and their attendants.

It is imperative to check the eligibility in order to see if one is eligible for the scheme or not. In order to avail the health care in the hospitals that are going to be revamped under the Ama Hospital Scheme, one must be 

  • A permanent resident of Odisha 
  • Can be of any caste, there is no compulsion. 

Odisha Ama Hospital Scheme Documents Required

It is important to be aware of the documents that one has to carry while taking healthcare services in the empanelled Ama Hospital Scheme hospitals. You need to carry the documents based on what category or through what scheme you are applying.

If you are applying through BSKY Card, you need to carry that along with other relevant documents. This BSKY card will be given to you if you have applied for Biju Swashtya Kalyan Yojana.  

If you are not eligible for the BSKY card, you can carry your insurance documents to make sure that your bill is taken care of. 

About Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana

BSKY, commonly known as Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, started in 2018, is a health insurance scheme designed for the permanent residents of Odisha. The primary focus of this initiative is to safeguard the health of vulnerable families and women in the state

Residents with Odisha domicile are eligible to receive free or cashless healthcare services at any state government hospital through this scheme.

Once identified as economically vulnerable families, the state government provides an annual health coverage of Rs. 5 lakh per family. Additionally, there is an extra Rs. 5 lakh coverage specifically allocated for the women members of the family after the exhaustion of the initial limit. 

To date, the government has allocated ₹3,550 crore for the treatment of 16.5 lakh patients through the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana.

Odisha Ama Hospital Scheme Hospital List

At the moment, there is no hospital list released by the government however, it is announced that all the 1858 hospitals will be revamped under this scheme. This will be done in a phased manner. In the first phase, a total of 149 hospitals will be renovated. As soon as the hospital list is released, we are going to upload that for you here.

In my opinion, there is no option of registering for the scheme, as it will be the state’s decision to check which hospital needs the renovation the most.  One can log in to the portal as Admin, State, or District with a given user ID and password.
