Mukhyamantri Gram Gadi Yojana in News | What’s New?
The Mukhyamantri Gram Gaadi Yojana will initially be effective for a period of five years. During the current financial year (2023-24), the operation of 250 vehicles under this scheme will incur a financial burden of Rs 24 crore on the department.
Vehicle owners found involved in any irregularities in the operation of their vehicles will face legal action. Moreover, if a vehicle owner voluntarily surrenders the permit granted under this scheme, the Deputy Transport Commissioner cum Secretary of the Transport Authority will initiate legal proceedings against them.
The Transport Department has issued a resolution addressing this matter. It specifies that in the future, the Transport Department will handle any issues that may arise during the implementation of the Jharkhand Chief Minister Gram Gaadi Yojana, 2023. Apart from financial concerns, the Transport Department will also be responsible for issuing legal notifications on various other matters. According to the resolution, buses operating on rural routes will receive preferential treatment at government bus stands. This includes exemptions from road tax, halt fees, municipal corporation entry fees, and more.
Under the scheme, road tax exemptions will be granted for a maximum of five years from the issuance date of the first permit. The permit fee and application fee will be set at Re 1 each. If a vehicle operating on rural routes performs satisfactorily, the permit can be renewed for another five years or until the scheme’s implementation date, depending on whichever is earlier.
