What is the Delhi Ladli Scheme 2024?

Delhi Ladli Scheme is a welfare scheme launched for the girl child born in the state on or after January 01, 2008. It was launched by the  Department of Women & Children Development in the Government of the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi.  The Delhi Ladli Scheme aims to empower female children born in the city. The scheme’s Fund Manager for this scheme is the State Bank Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (SBIL). 

If you have a daughter born in your household and your annual income is below Rs 1 lakh, residing in Delhi for the past three years, you can benefit from the scheme. Within one year, visit the nearest district office and the Women and Child Development Department with the birth certificate to register and access the program’s advantages. 

Upon registration, the Delhi Government will deposit Rs 10,000/- (or Rs 11,000/- for hospital births) in your daughter’s bank account. Further, upon entering Class X, Rs 5,000/- is deposited, and upon enrollment in Class XII, another Rs 5,000/- is contributed. Upon reaching 18 years and completing 10th grade from a recognized Delhi school, the deposited amount with interest will be disbursed to your daughter.

Delhi Ladli Scheme Benefits/ Financial Assistance 

The competent authority, as per the stipulations of these regulations, may disburse grants in the form of a long-term Fixed Deposit, as outlined below:

The long-term fixed deposit receipts, granted under these rules, shall be in the name of the girl child and can only be encashed after she reaches 18 years, passes Class 10 as a regular student, or enrolls in Class 12. 

The scheme’s Fund Manager for this scheme is the State Bank Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (SBIL). 

Subsequent fixed deposits require parents/guardians to produce the child’s report card and attendance/admission certificate from a Govt./MCD/NDMC or Govt. recognized school.

Financial assistance is limited to two girl children per family. 

In the unfortunate event of the girl child’s demise before reaching eighteen years, the long-term fixed deposit receipt will be forfeited and returned to the government treasury. 

The fixed deposit receipt cannot be used for loans or other credit facilities and is non-transferable, non-refundable, and ineligible for premature encashment.

• The girl must be born in Delhi, as evidenced by the birth certificate issued by the Registrar (Births & Deaths), MCD/NDMC.
• Applicant must be a legitimate resident of the National Capital Territory of Delhi for a minimum of three years before the girl child’s birth date.
• Annual family income should not exceed ₹1,00,000.
• If the girl is attending school, it must be recognized by Delhi Govt. / MCD / NDMC.
