UPDATE OCTOBER 19, 2023

On October 19, 2023, the Jharkhand CM approved the CM Abua Awas Yojana along with 29 other schemes. The Jharkhand government has approved a substantial project worth Rs 16,320 crore to construct 800,000 homes for those in need by March 31, 2026, fulfilling Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s commitment made on August 15.

In the current fiscal year, 200,000 individuals will receive housing, followed by 350,000 in the subsequent fiscal year, and another 250,000 in the financial year 2025-26. The estimated expenditures for these phases are Rs 4,107 crore, Rs 7,107 crore, and Rs 5,107 crore, respectively, as per an official statement.

Following a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the Jharkhand Cabinet has given its approval for the ‘Abua Awas Yojna (AAY),’ which aims to build 800,000 houses by March 31, 2026.

UPDATE AUGUST 17,2023

On August 17, 2023, Chief Minister Hemant Soren tweeted that they will provide Pucca Houses to the needy people of Jharkhand. A total of 3 Lakh Houses will be constructed under this scheme. He said that the center has rejected the request for 8.5 lakh houses under the PM AWAS Yojana. He said that even if the center has rejected its requirements, he will fulfill his promise to provide pucca houses to the people of Jharkhand. Therefore, he has launched Abua Awas Yojana where he will provide the houses to the remaining people of Jharkhand. 

Abua Awas Yojana Eligibility Criteria

Before you apply for the Abua Awas Yojana, it is essential to check the Abua Awas Yojana Eligibility Criteria in detail. Here is the complete eligibility of the scheme in the list below. 

  • One must be a permanent resident of the Jharkhand State 
  • One must not be a beneficiary of PM AWAS Yojana
  • One should not own a pucca house (an all-weather dwelling unit) anywhere in the state.
  • Please note that families consisting of husband, wife, and unmarried children are considered a single beneficiary unit for the scheme.
  • Families with an annual household income of up to Rs. 3 lakh fall under the EWS category.
  • Families with an annual household income between Rs. 3 lakh and Rs. 6 lakh fall under the LIG (Lower Income Group) category.

Please Note:

According to the scheme’s specifications, if a particular family meets all six criteria, it will receive 8 points, granting it the highest priority within its category. Similarly, eligible families will be assigned priority marks ranging from 1 to 8 and then ranked based on these marks to create a waiting list. The permanent waiting list will be established during the Gram Sabha meeting.

In the event of a tie between two families with equal marks, priority will be given to a family without an adult member, a family with a disabled member, or a family headed by a female.

The Government of Jharkhand has now increased the budget from Rs 15,000 Crore to Rs 16,320 crore. This budget will be released on a yearly basis. There will be a total of 3 Lakh pucca houses constructed in the time duration of 2 to 3 years. A total of 8.5 Lakh people will be benefitted from this.
